Hard-to-Fit DenturesA frequent complaint with dentures is that they don’t fit properly. All dentures tend to be a bit loose and it may be hard to chew certain items with them. However, excessive looseness, irritation of the gums or side of the mouth and other problems are a symptom either that the dentures were not properly made (if new) or due to changes in the mouth of the patient. It may be difficult to properly fit some patients, due to the shape of their mouth and bone structure. Modern technology has provided solutions to all of these issues. Newer methods of measuring for and constructing dentures allow for a more precise fit. In addition, the use of mini-implants to anchor dentures can allow for an almost completely natural ability to chew. It is no longer necessary to accept chewing and other denture problems as something “you just have to live with.” |
